The Hill of Samaria lies halfway, east and west, between Nablus and Dothan which is at the entrance to the plain of Megiddo and Jezreel to the S. East.
In what ever direction you approach Samaria the view would be much the same. The Hill of Samaria stands alone and is not attached to any other hill. It was easily protected and was surely the reason Omri chose it for his capitol.
