Artaxerxes I
Artaxerxes I (old-Persian Artakhšaça): name of a king of the Persian empire, ruled 465-424. The Greeks called him Makrocheir, "with the long hand". He is also called Artaxerxes Longimanus who sent Ezra and Nehemiah to Jerusalem Ezra in 456 BC. Josephus says the canon of the O.T. was closed during his reign.
