After the Persian king Darius had suppressed the rebellion of the Magian Gaumâta in September 522 and went to Babylon, many tribes in the eastern half of the empire revolted. One of the rebels was Frâda, a nobleman from Margiana, who was defeated by Dâdarshish, the satrap of Bactria, on December 28, 521.
